Hyundai Joins Tata Power to Install Fast Chargers

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) on Tuesday said it has partnered with Tata Power to facilitate the installation of DC 60 kW fast chargers across 34 of its EV dealer locations in 29 cities, in addition to the existing AC 7.2 kW chargers.

The vehicle charging time of the DC 60 kW charger is much less than the AC 7.2 kW charger which will help save time.

Alongside, Tata Power will also supply end-to-end home charging solutions, from charger supply to installation, for Hyundai EV customers.

Both the companies signed an MoU at Hyundai’s Headquarters in Gurugram, Haryana. Through its dealerships, the carmaker will facilitate space and necessary administrative approvals, while Tata Power will operate and maintain the charging stations.

“Under this collaboration, public EV charging stations at Hyundai dealership locations will be installed and end-to-end charging solutions at home will be offered for customer convenience. The charging stations at the dealerships will be open for all-electric vehicle customers and accessible through Hyundai and Tata Power EZ Charge Mobile App,” said the company in a statement.

Hyundai, which currently sells one EV model Kona SUV will soon be launching its next electric model- Ioniq. The carmaker aims to expand the charging infra network across its pan India dealerships. It will offer special tariffs to its customers at its dealership charging stations. The mobile app will enable customers to navigate, locate, and make payments, access live status, and pre-book slots for the charging stations.

Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India said, “This partnership will power up the nations’ electric mobility mission by offering end-to-end EV charging infrastructure at HMIL Dealerships along with supply, installation, and commissioning of home charging for HMIL EV customers, thereby, enhancing customer convenience and ease of adoption of electric vehicles.”

Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power said, “Our collaboration with Hyundai Motor India aligns with the Government of India’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan and demonstrates our commitment to leading India’s clean energy and net-zero goals.”

Tata Power has earlier partnered with several other companies for installing EV charging networks across the country.
