Continental’s Radar Vision Parking System Wins Top Honor at CES 2024 for Pioneering Innovation in Vehicle Technology

Continental, a leader in automotive technology, has been honoured with a CES 2024 Innovation Award for its groundbreaking Radar Vision Parking system. Acknowledged in the Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility category, this innovative solution combines high-resolution surround radars with advanced cameras to redefine parking capabilities, earning acclaim for its precision and forward-thinking design.

By seamlessly integrating high-resolution cameras with compact radars, Continental’s Radar Vision Parking facilitates parking scenarios that demand meticulous and close-range measurements around the vehicle. Notably, it enables early detection of parking slots, allowing users to effortlessly park in a single attempt without overshooting the designated spot. The compact nature of the radars allows for inconspicuous mounting behind painted bumpers, offering a redundant and seamless 360° view around the vehicle when paired with cameras.

This Radar Vision Parking system not only serves as a viable alternative to traditional ultrasonic sensors commonly used for parking but surpasses them in design and performance, all while meeting the safety requirements of the New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP).

Continental’s integrated solution, comprising both software and hardware, efficiently manages and processes the growing volume of information in modern vehicles, setting the stage for the next generation of software-defined vehicles.

Ismail Dagli, Head of the Autonomous Mobility Business Area at Continental, expressed excitement about the prestigious accolade, stating, “We are thrilled to have been named among the best-of-the-best with this prestigious award. The CES Innovation Awards are a testament to our team’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible.”

The Radar Vision Parking system goes beyond conventional features by offering enhanced object height detection and the ability to assess object over-rideability, such as low curbstones, or under-rideability, such as a hanging bicycle in a garage. The advanced environmental model incorporated in the solution aims to reduce accidents in parking garages and alleviate waiting queues, making parking more efficient and safe.

Daniel Förster, Head of Product Line Parking and Product Line Human Vision, Autonomous Mobility Business Area at Continental, highlighted the stress-reducing aspects of the technology, stating, “Parking can be a stressful experience for drivers. From finding your spot to manoeuvring into it in tight spaces and having enough clearance for loading and unloading, Radar Vision Parking takes what can be an unpleasant experience and brings future mobility to drivers, today.”

Continental’s CES Innovation Award marks its eighth consecutive year of recognition in this esteemed competition, a testament to its consistent commitment to outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products. The award announcement precedes CES 2024, scheduled to take place from January 9 through January 12 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Continental’s Radar Vision Parking is poised to make a significant impact on the future of parking technology, enhancing convenience, comfort, and safety for end users.
