    Introducing IXTY2P50PA: Littelfuse’s First Automotive-Grade PolarP P-Channel Enhancement-Mode Power MOSFET

Littelfuse, a key player in the semiconductor industry, has unveiled the IXTY2P50PA, its first-ever automotive-grade PolarP P-channel enhancement-mode power MOSFET. This innovative addition boasts low package inductance and holds an AEC-Q101 qualification, ensuring it meets the rigorous demands of automotive applications.

    PolarP Technology for Enhanced Performance

The IXTY2P50PA is part of Littelfuse’s Polar technology platform, setting it apart with superior performance characteristics. Compared to legacy counterparts, this MOSFET exhibits a lower on-state resistance (RDS(on) max = 4.2 Ω) and reduced gate-charge requirement (Qg = 11.9 nC). These features translate to diminished conduction loss and improved switching performance.

    Key Features of the IXTY2P50PA

    1. High-Voltage Capability: With a drain-source voltage of -500 V, a -2 A avalanche current, 150 mJ avalanche energy, and 58 W power dissipation, this MOSFET thrives in demanding environments and applications.
    2. Space-Efficient Design: The IXTY2P50PA boasts a TO-252 (DPAK) footprint in a surface-mount form factor, facilitating power-dense PCB designs. This compact footprint optimizes space utilization on the PCB, enabling more efficient and compact product designs.
    3. Wide Operating Range: Operating seamlessly within a temperature range of -55 to 150°C, this MOSFET proves its resilience under extreme conditions.
    4. AEC-Q101 Qualified: The IXTY2P50PA’s AEC-Q101 qualification underlines its suitability for the stringent requirements of automotive applications.
    5. Low Conduction Loss: Sporting a maximum on-state resistance of 4.2 Ω, this MOSFET reduces power dissipation, minimizes heat generation, and enhances operational efficiency.
    6. Efficient Switching: The IXTY2P50PA features a low gate charge of 11.9 nC, ensuring rapid and efficient switching.

The PolarP Series, represented by the IXTY2P50PA, finds its place in a wide array of automotive electronics and industrial applications, including:

    • Automotive ECUs
    • Automotive sensor circuits
    • High-side switches
    • Push-pull amplifiers
    • Automatic test equipment
    • Current regulators

Raymon Zhou, Product Marketing Manager at Littelfuse, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of IXTY2P50PA. He noted, “We are thrilled to introduce the first automotive-grade PolarP P-Channel Power MOSFET to the market. The IXTY2P50PA offers exceptional performance and reliability, making it ideal for demanding automotive applications. With its AEC-Q101 qualification and competitive specifications, we believe this MOSFET will greatly benefit automotive manufacturers.”
