Ather Energy Launches Konarc on New EL Platform to Advance Scalable and Service-Friendly EV Technology

By launching the Ather Konarc – the first electric scooter from the brand to be built around the company’s all-new electric (EL) platform – Ather Energy continues with its expansion of the scooter line up to offer cheaper, practical and better suited electric two-wheelers for Indian consumers. Unveiled on the Ather Community Day 2026, held on August 29, 2026, it is one of the most recent entries to the Indian electric scooter industry.

Designed for scalability, cost savings and serviceability, the EL platform was first revealed in 2025, Ather’s vehicle architecture for its next generation of vehicles. Ather says that the platform comprises a standardized set of central components that can accommodate a variety of scooter shapes and uses. It features a chassis, power-train and new electronics-stack.

New Architecture Focuses on Practical EV Engineering

The Konarc comes with several battery and range options. Ather lists 100 km, 125 km and 161 km IDC range variants along with battery capacities from 2.1 kWh to 3.5 kWh. Ather is also showing up for a 200 km IDC range for the Konarc S, which is expected to become available around Q3 FY28.

A central technical modification is the simplification of the EL platform architecture. According to Ather, the lower number of components allows for 15% quicker vehicle assembly and periodic servicing can be completed up to twice as fast, with services required at up to every 10,000km.

Integrated Charging and Electronic Systems

The platform includes Ather’s Charge Drive Controller, a combination of the onboard charger and motor controller. By merging the two components, the reliance on portable chargers is minimized, and an integrated vehicle electrical architecture is achieved.
