India’s cheapest electric car launched by PMV

Mumbai-based PMV Electric has launched India’s first micro EV in a bid to promote sustainable and eco-friendly mobility in the country. The company aspires to herald a new form of vehicle, which they call personal mobility vehicles. PMV Electric’s Eas-E 2-seater EV is the solution that the company has put forward. Here is everything you need to know about this unique electric vehicle for the Indian market.
The Eas-E EV is a micro-car that has a seating capacity of two passengers, it has an overall size of 36 sq ft and PMV claims that such solutions can help curb traffic in urban cities with dense populations.

The Eas-E isn’t just smart in its format it also gets a number of smart features such as remote park assist, remote horn, follow-me-home lights, and regenerative braking. The EV is also OTA update enabled and has comfort features such as cruise control and electric ORVMs. Additionally, PMV’s Eas-E Connect app can be used to remote park the EV in tight parking spots, it also gets a Feet Free mode in which the EV can be operated just by the thumb controls on the steering wheel, in stop-and-go traffic.

In terms of specs, the Eas-E micro-car gets a PMSM motor producing 10 kW of power and 50 Nm of torque offering a top speed of up to 70 kmph. PMV Electric will sell the Eas-E in three battery pack options offering three range capacities – 120km, 160km and 200 km range. The EV will have a standard charge time of between 3 to 4 hours across all three variants. The company claims that this EV will have a running cost of less than 75 paise per km. The battery packs are further IP67 rated against water breach and have a 48V Li Iron Phosphate cell chemistry. The battery pack also acts as an integrated structure, meaning it has been constructed as a chassis member for better structural rigidity.

Other convenience features such as a digital instrument cluster and a small infotainment screen are on offer in the Eas-E as well. In the safety department, PMV Electric has given the micro EV a monocoque chassis that has been built out of High strength sheet metal construction similar to bigger cars unlike the tubular chassis used in micro-cars in international markets. The EV also gets a single driver-airbag at the front.

At the launch event, PMV Electric announced an introductory price of Rs 4.79 lakh for its first 10,000 customers of the base variant. The higher-range battery pack versions have been priced at Rs 6.79 and Rs 7.79 lakh respectively. The company also announced that they have received 6,000 pre-orders for the Eas-E worldwide. Bookings are open on their official website.
